Review: Craft Beer Market | Sybaritica

I spent a pleasant few hours at this establishment one afternoon, not merely because it is a nice place, but because they boast an impressive 100 different beers on tap. I noted, during that visit, that they do a brunch on Sundays and so I made a point of checking it out on the second to last day of my vacation…

Ambience and Service

The interior of Craft Beer Market is very airy and spacious with a very high ceiling. There is also a roof top patio, as well as a small second floor and, together, the establishment could probably serve about 200 or so. The decor is fairly plain, with cinder block walls on one side and bare brick on the other, but it us actually quite stylish in a simple sort of way.

At the back of the rather cavernous ground floor there is a large window behind which one can see a platoon of kegs and there is an impressive array of pipes running to two amazingly long rows of taps at the bar. There are even a half- dozen of these large bore pipes extending up through the ceiling to service (I presume) the roof top area.

As for the service, I was served by a succession of waitresses during both visits and they were all very personable and enthusiastic. As the beer menu notes, ‘cenosillicaphobia’ is the fear if an empty glass. Nobody here made me suffer that, is all I can say. The brunch menu is a bit spartan, mainly the traditional sorts of brekkie combos, although they do offer a waffle dish with chicken, which is a bit off beat from the usual. Of note, they also have a kiddie menu appropriately titled ‘Half Pints’

My Brunch

The Classic Breakfast – This is the standard two eggs with a choice of bacon or sausage, home fries and toast. Extras of any of these, plus a few other things are available too. I opted for bacon and sausage which came to just $14 less tax. Mostly this was fairly unremarkable ( scrambled eggs are scrambled eggs, after all) but the sausages were particularly nice with light seasoning and a good meaty taste. The fruit skewer usually comes as an extra but I got one as a complimentary bonus. It was a decent meal and I gave it a 4 out of 5.

Overall

The Craft Beer Market is a great place for the beer aficionado to spend a few hours in pleasant surroundings. The food, without being spectacular, is good value for the money. I rate the establishment at a solid 4 out of 4.
