Greetings…My name is C. John Thompson. The ‘C’ stands for Christopher but most people, except for a few immediate family members, know me as John.

Sybaritica is a very food-centric blog but I am neither a professional Chef nor restaurateur and I don’t work in any food related industry. I am a lawyer by profession and my interest in food, and all things related, is as a very enthusiastic amateur.

I live and work in Canada’s northern territory of Nunavut. Currently, I reside in Iqaluit, the Territorial capital, which is located on the southern end of Baffin Island. For five years, I lived in the small hamlet of Pond Inlet, which is the fourth most northerly community on the whole Continent and sits some 600 km above the Arctic circle. Now, while living below the circle, I am still in a fairly remote location which means that most of my culinary adventures happen in my own kitchen. I am hoping, in this foray into the blogosphere, to include restaurant reviews wherever possible, but since there are so few restaurants within 2000 or so kilometers of my home (less than a dozen, in all), I will only get to do restaurant reviews in the couple of times a year that I get to travel south.

I still don’t have a clear vision of how this blog will develop but I welcome any comments or suggestions from friends with like interests ….
